Theater and cinema actress Berna Laçin, who was on trial due to “public denigration of religious values of people” through her social media posts, was acquitted of the charges. Laçin was on trial at Istanbul Anatolian 59th Criminal Court of First Instance due to her post that reacted against the debates on death penalty: “If death penalty was the solution, the lands of Medina would not break records on incidents of rape! Don’t make me talk! Let scientists, neurologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, social scientists and lawyers find a solution hand in hand. Governments do not build societies with sounds from tribunes.”
