Galatasaray University student and social media user Bekir Aslan, known as “Basel”, was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison for sharing an image of the “DEV-GENZ” banner on his social media account. Istanbul 13th High Criminal Court deemed the post as “terrorist organization propaganda”. His lawyers demanded acquittal, saying “DEV-GENZ is a joke among students, there is no organization”, but the court rejected the demand. Aslan was previously detained for 77 days for the same post.
