Halil Kılıç, headman of Balaban neighborhood in Suruç district of Urfa, was allegedly beaten and detained by gendarmerie because he refused to sign blank papers. DEM Party Urfa MP Ferit Şenyaşar stated that the gendarmerie wanted Kılıç to sign 7 blank papers and when he refused to sign, the headman and his relatives were subjected to insults and violence. Kılıç, his son and nephew were detained for two days. The mukhtar’s nephew was injured in the incident. Şenyaşar announced that he will bring the issue to the agenda of the Parliament.
