Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan, who was arrested within the scope of the “urban reconciliation” investigation against IBB and who was dismissed and replaced by a trustee, was included in the “corruption” investigation this time.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office announced that there is a strong suspicion of a crime that Şahan committed an act of extortion and that the benefit obtained in this way was transferred to the organization. On this ground, Şahan was referred to the Criminal Judgeship of Peace with a request for arrest.
According to Gazete Pencere, Şahan was also asked about his relationship with Ekrem İmamoğlu and the fine imposed on Torunlar Group. Şahan denied the allegations that he was threatened over Emrullah Turanlı’s land, stating that he had no authority at the time and did not know Turanlı. He also said that the land already belonged to the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.
Regarding the fine imposed on Torunlar, he stated that he met with Mehmet Torunlar, that the fine was reduced if the mistakes were corrected and that there was no bribe demand as alleged.
To the question about his relationship with Ekrem İmamoğlu, he answered as follows: “I worked as IPA President and Beylikdüzü Project Coordinator. My relationship with the President was not a relationship that made him do what he said, but a relationship that warned him if there was a wrong situation.”
