As part of the investigation against LeMan magazine, Editor-in-Chief Aslan Özdemir, who was detained while returning from abroad, was referred to court with a request for arrest. Previously, four employees of the magazine were arrested on charges of “publicly insulting religious values”. After the controversial cartoon, Islamist groups attacked the magazine building and LeMan Kültür, but the police did not intervene. Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has opened a financial investigation into the magazine and announced that it is investigating whether the magazine received “financial support” for the cartoon.
