A decree was issued in the appeal application of the case against rights advocates, publicly known as the “Büyükada Case.” 3rd Criminal Chamber of Istanbul Regional Court approved the local court decree entirely.
In the case at Istanbul 35th Assize Court, Amnesty International Turkey’s Honorary Chairman Taner Kılıç had been sentenced to 6 years and three months of imprisonment due to “illegal organisation membership” and rights advocates Günal Kurşun, İdil Eser and Özlem Dalkıran had been sentenced to 2 years and 1 month of imprisonment each due to “aiding an illegal organisation.” Seven rights advocates had been acquitted.
