Amnesty International drew attention to the disproportionate force used by the police in many countries during the pandemic. According to the report of Amnesty International that focuses on 60 countries, mass detainments, illegal deportations, raids and aggressive attacks against peaceful demonstrations have occurred in 2020. The report states that 510 people were detained in Turkey between March and May over making social media posts regarding the pandemic, describing the application as an open violation of freedom of expression.
