Journalist Ali Tarakçı was detained and arrested by Ankara 8th Criminal Judgeship of Peace on a charge of “publicly disseminating misleading information” after posting on social media, “A very important minister will resign on Friday.” The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office also requested a search of Tarakçı’s address and the seizure of his digital materials. Access to Tarakçı’s X account was also blocked by a decision of Ankara 7th Criminal Judgeship of Peace. In his statement, Tarakçı said his post was based on backstage information he had received as part of his journalistic work and denied the accusation.
