CHP Diyarbakır MP Sezgin Tanrıkulu announced the human rights report covering June-August. According to the report, there were 681 violations of the right to life in 3 months; 560 of these were in workplace homicides, 85 in femicides and 16 in children. 6 people lost their lives in prisons. 395 cases of torture were recorded, 155 of which took place in prisons. Tanrıkulu emphasized that the most basic rights of citizens were violated, especially freedom of expression was suppressed through detentions and arrests due to social media posts. He stated that “fear of detention and arrest” has become one of the biggest concerns of citizens in public opinion surveys. According to the report, 228 mayors, MPs and political party executives were prosecuted; 362 people were detained while exercising their right to assembly and demonstration.
