During the week of 21-27 September, journalist Ali Tarakçı was arrested over a social media post; according to Free Web data, access was blocked to the X accounts of at least eight journalists and to at least nine news items. The Freedom of Expression Association reported that access was blocked to at least 250 X accounts on 24 September alone and to at least 80 X accounts, including those of journalists and independent media outlets, on 26 September. A significant portion of the decisions cited “protection of national security and public order” under Article 8/A of Law No. 5651. Some reports about the fund investigation and journalists’ social media accounts were also among the blocked content.
