Access to numerous X accounts was blocked as part of investigations conducted by the Istanbul and Ankara chief public prosecutor’s offices over allegations that they had made speculative posts about capital markets that could cause fear and panic among investors. The decisions were taken under Article 8/A of Law No. 5651 on the grounds of “protecting national security and public order.” The blocked accounts included those of economist Uğur Gürses, Prof. Dr. Veysel Ulusoy, Prof. Dr. Bilge Yılmaz, journalists Naz Yavuzarslan and Dinçer Gökçe, and actor Orhan Aydın. İfade Özgürlüğü Derneği reported that the accounts it identified had a combined total of about 12 million followers. X made most of the accounts unavailable in Türkiye.
