X made Mezopotamya Ajansı’s (MA) account @mezopotamyatrk3 unavailable in Türkiye. In a notice sent to the agency, the platform said the access block was imposed following a decision transmitted by the Cyber Security Presidency under Article 8/A of Law No. 5651. The agency decided to continue publishing through its new account @mezopotamyatrk4. According to data from the Freedom of Expression Association, at least 1,270 X accounts were blocked in September 2026 and about 90 percent of them were made unavailable in Türkiye. The blocked accounts had a combined total of more than 35 million followers. The access blocks covered journalists, media organizations, LGBTI+ organizations, academics, economists and rights defenders. Numerous accounts that posted about the fund crisis, as well as three bianet reports covering parliamentary questions submitted by TİP MP Ahmet Şık, were also blocked. Twenty-one human rights organizations, including İFÖD, called for the access blocks to be lifted in a joint statement published on 12 October.
