Peace Academic Dr. Cenk Yiğiter, who was detained in the morning of November 9 after being dismissed from Ankara University Faculty of Law with an emergency decree, was released four days later. His lawyer Erkan Çiftçi indicated that Yiğiter is charged with “acting on behalf of a terrorist organization” due to the press statements organized at Ankara University Cebeci Campus on the dismissals, as well as due to his social media posts. “I am in the opinion that this is entirely aimed at intimidation, spreading the current atmosphere of fear in the country and to inform a little less silent opposing views of their place,” Yiğiter said.
