A case has been filed against 28 people, including journalists covering a protest the Mothers for Peace planned to hold in 2024 in the Silopi district of Şırnak. Police and soldiers prevented the protest, beating and detaining the 28 individuals. An indictment charging the individuals—including three journalists—with “participating in an unlawful assembly” and “resisting the performance of duty” has been accepted. The first hearing of the case is scheduled for May 13.
