On July 1, 2025, 7 of 34 people who were detained during the rally organized by Republican People’s Party in Istanbul Saraçhane Square on the occasion of 100th day of Ekrem İmamoğlu’s arrest, were arrested.
7 of the detainees were referred to the criminal court of peace on duty on charges of “insulting the President” and “violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations”, while 8 people were referred to the court on charges of violating the demonstration law only. The court issued arrest warrants for 7 of them.
Judicial control conditions were imposed on the remaining 19 people.
The rally was organized against the arrest of many names, especially Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.
