The Manavgat Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office’s bribery and corruption investigation into the Manavgat Municipality is deepening.
At the first stage, Mayor Niyazi Nefi Kara was arrested and then former Mayor Şükrü Sözen was detained at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport.
In the latest development, it was reported that nearly 50 more people were detained. The detainees are reportedly municipality bureaucrats, council members and some business people.
While the news of former Mayor Sözen’s detention resonated widely in Antalya, it is seen that the scope of the investigation has been further expanded with the new detentions. The identities of the suspects have not yet been made public.
