Journalists Gençağa Karafazlı and Şenol Öksüz were detained in Rize after reporting that the Director of National Education had a private toilet built in his office. The Contemporary Journalists Association (ÇGD) condemned the detentions and stated that it is not the journalists who report on the waste of public resources that should be questioned, but those who recklessly use public resources.
