The indictment prepared against social media celebrity Murat Övüç over his headscarf video has been sent to the Küçükçekmece Criminal Court of First Instance. The Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has requested a prison sentence of between one and three years, alleging that Övüç’s post constitutes the crime of “openly inciting the public to hatred and hostility.” The indictment alleges that the post reached a wide audience and posed a clear and imminent threat to public order. It was noted that the indictment was prepared on the 46th day of Övüç’s detention.
