Human Rights Association (IHD) Commission Against Racism and Discrimination announced the monitoring report on the murder of Kadir Sakçı on December 16, 2018 in Hendek district of Sakarya. The father has lost his life following the armed attack against him and his son, Burhan Sakçı, due to speaking in Kurdish among themselves.
IHD Central Executive Board member and human rights advocate lawyer Eren Keskin announced that the murder was committed with racial intentions and that they have undertaken the legal support of the victim family. Libertarian Lawyers Platform (ÖHP) lawyer Veysi Eski underlined that the incident is a hate crime and is attempted to be covered up by the government, stating that a confidentiality order was brought on the file due to the investigation having been “endangered.”
