Two academics, who were on trial due to signing the “Peace Petition” of the Academics for Peace Initiative, were sentenced to a total of 3 years and four months of imprisonment. Istanbul 25th Assize Court sentenced S.I. from Sabancı University to 2 years and one month of imprisonment due to “willfully aiding and abetting an illegal organization without being a member,” effective immediately. In the hearing at Istanbul 14th Assize Court, Z.Y. from Boğaziçi University was sentenced to 1 year and three months of imprisonment. The announcement of the verdict was deferred.
