Approximately 10 thousand journalists are unemployed, 142 journalists are on prison; criminal and compensation lawsuits continue to against hundreds of journalists. Another obstacle in front of the journalists, who continue to work taking the chance of arrests and unemployment, are press cards.
Assoc. Prof. Ahmet Tuna Altınel, one of the academics on trial due to “making illegal organization propaganda” through signing the “Peace Petition” of the Academics for Peace, was arrested.
The assignment of a citizen who earned the right to be assigned as a public officer was not executed due to “not having been educated by his parents as a person faithful to the government.”

The summary judgement of the lawsuit filed against Turkish Medical Association (TTB) 2016-2018 Central Council members, who stated, “War Is a Matter of Public Health” in regards to the Afrin Operation, was held at Ankara 32nd Assize Court.
The Constitutional Court (AYM) decided that the rights of arrested journalist-writer Ahmet Altan and Nazlı Ilıcak were not violated.

Journalism considered crime, Constitutional Court issues right violation against only two out of seven journalist arrests
The Constitutional Court (AYM) evaluated the applications of former executives and writers of Cumhuriyet Daily, who were arrested in 2016, as well as the application of journalist Murat Aksoy’s arrest; all under the lawsuit known as “FETÖ Media Case”, three years after their application.
Two academics, who were on trial due to signing the “Peace Petition” of the Academics for Peace Initiative, were sentenced to a total of 3 years and four months of imprisonment.
