Damal Mayor Kemal Çamlıyurt and four others were arrested as part of an investigation into allegations of bribery and irregularities in the Damal district of Ardahan. The Hanak Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office launched the investigation over allegations that bribes described as donations and commissions were taken and official procedures were irregularly carried out during transfers of specialist sergeants who had left the Turkish Armed Forces into municipal civil service positions. Detained Mayor Kemal Çamlıyurt and Emre Köse, Davut Dirgen, Cihan Sönmez, Ömer Tatlı and Hakan Küçükakçalı were referred to the courthouse. A criminal judgeship of peace ordered the arrest of Çamlıyurt and four others.
