The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office filed a case against 140 members of the Communist Party of Türkiye (TKP) who marched on 5 July against the demonstration ban imposed during the NATO Summit held in July. Prosecutors charged the demonstrators, including the TKP Ankara Provincial Chair and members of the Central Committee and Party Council, with “violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations” and “resisting police.” The indictment sought prison sentences of between six months and three years for the 140 people.
