Writer Suzan Samancı, who had lived in Switzerland since 2008, was detained at Istanbul Airport on a charge of “making propaganda for an organization” when she returned to Türkiye after nearly 10 years. Samancı appeared before a criminal judgeship of peace in Diyarbakır via SEGBİS. The judgeship reviewed the prosecutor’s request for judicial control and released Samancı with a ban on leaving the country. Her lawyer Eren Keskin argued that the decision restricted freedom of expression.
