An investigation was launched, under the coordination of the Directorate of Communications, into social media accounts that were said to have targeted the “Terror-Free Turkey” and “Terror-Free Region” processes. Relevant chief public prosecutors’ offices, the Cybercrime Department of the General Directorate of Security, and counterterrorism units took part in the work. Authorities assessed that some accounts had shared content involving “terrorist propaganda,” “praise of terrorism,” disinformation, manipulation, and material that “fueled hatred and hostility.” It was announced that legal action would be initiated against accounts and content deemed to contain criminal elements.
