On June 11, police intervened in a protest held in the Karaburun district of Izmir against the conversion of Nergis Café into a children’s playground. During the protests that erupted after Mayor İlkay Girgin Erdoğan attempted to disrupt the event by tearing down banners, police took four people into custody. The four were released after being questioned.
