On the second day of the sit-in initiated by Bilgi University students on campus, police intervened against academics and union representatives on May 23. University administration refused to allow union representatives onto the campus. Police cordoned off the entrance to the university. During the intervention, Eylül Deniz Tutaş, a representative of the Private Sector Teachers’ Union, was injured and taken to the hospital by ambulance.
