On May 20, Istanbul’s 69th Criminal Court of First Instance sentenced three Boğaziçi University students who participated in protests supporting Ekrem İmamoğlu to three months and 10 days in prison each. The court convicted the students of damaging public property for writing slogans on the Turkish Telekom utility boxes and at Birlik Park in Beşiktaş. The Beşiktaş Municipality and Turkish Telekom informed the court that no damage had occurred and that they were not pressing charges against the students. The court postponed the announcement of the verdict.
