The 47th Civil Court of First Instance in Ankara ruled that CHP Chairman Özgür Özel must pay 10,000 lira in moral damages in a lawsuit filed by Süleyman Soylu. Soylu had alleged that Özel had insulted and slandered him. Özel’s lawyer, however, argued that the statements fell under the scope of freedom of expression.
