On April 21, Onursal Adıgüzel, the mayor of Ataşehir in Istanbul, was referred to a judge with a request for his arrest. As part of a bribery investigation, the prosecution requested the arrest of Adıgüzel and 19 others. Lawyers stated that the referral document had not been shared and that the right to a defense had been restricted.
