Police intervened against the crowd that gathered in front of the Meslek Factory on April 6, 2026, due to the building transfer crisis between the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and the General Directorate of Foundations. Early in the morning, the building was surrounded, entrances and exits were blocked, and municipal officials inside were prevented from leaving. When CHP lawmakers were denied entry to the area, a scuffle broke out; the crowd tore down barriers, and police intervened by firing pepper spray at the crowd.
