The Istanbul 44th Civil Court of First Instance ruled on February 17, 2026, that CHP Youth Wing Chairman Cem Aydın must pay Justice Minister Akın Gürlek 60,000 lira in moral damages for sharing a video titled “The Anatomy of the Mobile Guillotine: Akın Gürlek.” The court ruled that the compensation should be paid with legal interest from the date of the lawsuit and left the way open for appeal. Aydın had previously been sentenced to 1 year, 5 months, and 15 days in prison for “insulting a public official in connection with their duties” over the same video, and the execution of the sentence was suspended.
