Pressure against journalists and media organizations continued in April with lawsuits and penalties. According to the data compiled by Karınca Newspaper, at least 20 journalists were taken into custody within the past month and 11 of them were arrested. New lawsuits and investigations were filed against many journalists, with more than 105 years of imprisonment sentenced in total against 22 press workers. Two arrested journalists were released.
