Human Rights Association (IHD) and Independent Election Monitoring Platform launched their report compiling violations before the elections. The report indicated “serious public worry regarding these elections not being held fairly and in accordance with the principle of honest elections.”
The report expressed that the election campaigns of political parties and candidates experienced 48 bans and attacks since the election was announced. According to the data in the report, there were 30 interventions or attacks against the election campaigns of the People’s Democratic Party (HDP), 8 against those of the Good Party, 5 against those of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) and 4 against those of the Felicity Party. The election campaigns of four parties additionally faced obstacles from the public authority 11 times. Election campaigns of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) was attacked once as well. 39 people were taken into custody during the election campaigns of HDP and 101 during operations against party members; eight people were arrested. A total of four MP candidates were taken into custody so far during peaceful demonstrations – one from HDP and three independent.
The report further indicated that the governorate bans against meetings and demonstrations, as well as binding them to permission in 25 provinces eliminates a free campaign environment when the conditions of the State of Emergency are considered.
