The Constitutional Court ruled that the fine imposed on journalist Hayko Bağdat for his comment “What’s it to you, you maniac?” on an interview with a bank manager was a violation of freedom of expression. The Court stated that the statement was critical, not intended to insult and should be protected in the context of public debate. The court awarded Baghdad moral damages and sent the case back to the court of first instance for retrial.
