A lawsuit was filed against 8 people, who were detained during the Istanbul Pride Parade, which was held on June 27 and banned by the Beyoğlu District Governor’s Office, on the charge of “violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations”. The first hearing of the case will be held on November 2 at the Istanbul 16th Criminal Court of First Instance. The LGBTQ+Assemblies called for participation in the hearing on social media and said, “The lawsuits you file to intimidate us will not be able to wear us down. We used our Constitutional right and we will continue to use it. We don’t comply with the arbitrary bans of the heteronormative system. You will learn to abide by the Constitution, you will learn to accept the equal and free living of the LGBTQ+s.”
