Journalists Meltem Oktay and Uğur Akgül released

DIHA reporters Meltem Oktay and Uğur Akgül, who were arrested with the allegation of “illegal organisation membership” due to the news they covered during curfews, were released. Akgül has been sentenced to 2 years and six months of imprisonment and was at Mardin Type-E Closed Prison since August 8, 2018. Oktay, on the other hand, was imprisoned in 2017 after the approval of his 2-year 4-month imprisonment sentence by the Court of Cassation due to “making terrorist organisation propaganda.” According to data by the Turkish Journalists Association, 123 journalists are in prison…
