Turkish Publishers Union made a written statement on the attacks against Kırmızı Kedi Publishing and owner Haluk Hepkon due to the autograph session of Pucca (Selen Pınar Işık) after her recent conviction due to her social media posts.

The Union indicated that campaigns targeting books, writers and publishers increase, saying, “Books are presented as if they are criminal tools; writers, publishers and bookstores are actively being attacked.” Extrajudicial executions and the existing environment of pressure was indicated to be triggering censorship as well as self-censorship; further threatening freedom to publish.
