Transparency International launched the Corruption Perception Index for 2018; which is launched annually since 1995. According to the Index results of 2018, Turkey is ranked 78th with 41 points; being among the five countries regressing the most since 2012 in the category with other countries with “no tradition for democracy.”
According to the organization’s report, the indicators for corruption in a country is the weakening state of law and democratic institutions as well as the shrinkage of the place of civil society and independent media in the society. The situations experienced in Hungary and Turkey were shown as examples for this.
