The Mardin Governorate banned all demonstration marches and open-air meetings in the province for 15 days starting from October 4, in accordance with the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations No. 2911. Citing “ensuring national security, protecting public order and general health” as the reason for the ban, the governorate also threatened that all protests and demonstrations to be carried out would be monitored and recorded by the law enforcement and necessary criminal actions would be taken.
