Journalist Şirin Payzın announced that the court had dismissed her lawsuit against a person who had said on social media, “We need to get rid of this slut, let’s give her the maximum punishment.” Payzın said the court did not consider these statements to be “threats or insults.” Responding to the decision, Payzın pointed out the double standard, reminding that journalists have been sentenced to years in prison for comments they made based on historical examples.
