Cemal Yıldırım had been dismissed from public service with a Statutory Decree issued within the State of Emergency. Melek Çetinkaya claimed “justice” for her imprisoned son. Yıldırım and Çetinkaya performed a protest on Sakarya Street in Ankara, this time for People’s Democratic Party (HDP) member Ömer Faruk Gergerlioğlu over him losing his seat at the Parliament. The protest was supported by many others who were similarly dismissed from public service through Statutory Decrees. The police prevented the protesters from making a statement due to the pandemic and detained the protesters with reverse handcuffs. The journalists were prevented from recording visuals of the incident as well, due to “disrupting the traffic” even though the street was blocked to traffic. Those detained were released after testifying at the police station. Gergerlioğlu had supported Yıldırım and Çetinkaya many times in their protest and carried their matter to the Parliament.
