Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu targeted the staging of the theater play written from the book, “Devran” by Selahattin Demirtaş, as well as artist Kadir Inanir, who went to see the play. “Selahattin Demirtaş writes a play. Some people go and watch that play and applaud it. You can’t clean up the blood in your hands with theater plays. Neither can you fool this nation. You will not be able to divide this country. You will not be able to disrupt Turkey’s peace,” Soylu stated.
Inanir replied to Soylu with the words, “May our only concern be peace.” His colleagues supported Inanir as well. Names from the “Wise People” Committee, established during the Resolution Process, as well as rights advocates started a petition campaign, saying, “We stand beside Kadir Inanir and invite the minister to apologise.”
