20 organisations for human rights and freedom of expression, lead by PEN International, reprimanded the interim decision taken in the second hearing of the Gezi Park Case. The organisations called the European Union (EU) to pressurise Turkey on the developments. The statement expressed that the prosecution itself is a violation of freedom of meeting and expression; making emphasis of serious worry on an “environment of fear” being attempted to be creased in the country while indicating that this situation is against the Turkish Constitution. The EU and member countries were also asked to apply urgent and consistent mass pressure on the Turkish government for Turkey to regain supremacy of law as well as the Turkish judiciary to regain its independence.
