Monitoring for the Equal Rights Association announced that at least 320 peaceful meetings and demonstrations were intervened and at least 2,123 people were detained in Turkey in the first five months of 2021. According to the data shared by the association, a total of 132 local administration decrees restricted the right to peaceful meeting and demonstration, with 107 general and 25 specific decrees. Furthermore, 99 percent of all such decrees issued by the local administrations were based on the pandemic.
