As protests continue by Boğaziçi University students and academics against the appointment of Justice and Development Party (AKP) MP Prof Dr Melih Bulu as rector to Boğaziçi University by President Erdoğan, reactions continue against the police violence during the protests as well. 3317 academics, writers and intellectuals, including Judith Butler and Noam Chomsky, launched a solidarity letter with Boğaziçi University, calling the Justice and Development Party (AKP) government to respect academic freedom and university independence, and “rector” Bulu to resign. The signatories further demanded for the arrested students to be released immediately.
