The sentence of imprisonment against Human Rights Association (IHD) Central Executive Board Member Hayrettin Pişkin, issued by Çanakkale 2nd Assize Court for 2 years and six months due to “making illegal organization propaganda” through his social media posts on the Afrin Operation, was reversed by the appeal court. The court acquitted Pişkin of the charge.
2nd Criminal Chamber of Bursa Regional Court reversed the verdict, deciding that “the social media post carried the quality of criticism and did not include a call or invitation for violence.” Pişkin, who was arrested within the file on January 25, 2018 and remained under arrest for two months, was acquitted.
