The protest ban implemented in Van since 2016 is maintained by the Governorate. Van Governorate issued another ban decree on the pretext of “providing national security”. As of January 29, demonstration marches and open-air gatherings are prohibited for 15 days; press releases, sit-in demonstrations, booths, signature campaign, distribution of leaflets, brochures and flyers were also made subject to permission by the local administration.
