The Constitutional Court also ruled violation in the application of academic Onur Can Taştan, who was previously dismissed from his position at Ankara University with a Statutory Decree, on him being “unable to receive a new passport.” The court ruled that Taştan’s “right to respect for private life has been violated”. After his dismissal from the position, Taştan’s “service passport” was cancelled as well and his application for a public passport was denied without any examination by the Interior Ministry. Taştan was able to obtain his new passport at the beginning of 2020 only.
