The first hearing of the lawsuit filed against the Saturday Mothers, who were gathering for years at Galatasaray Square in order to demand justice for their missing relatives, was held at Istanbul 21st Criminal Court of First Instance due to “violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations”. The prosecution of 46 people, including relatives of those missing as well as rights advocates, who were detained by the police in the 700th week of the protest on August 25, 2018 based on the ban decree issued by the District Governorate due to the protection of “national security,” will continue on July 12.
